Author Visit - simon murray

Simon came and visited our school where he gave a fantastic workshop to the children. Firstly, Simon gave assemblies in the infants and juniors explaining his books, story writing methods and illustrations. He provided the the children with useful tips on how to use their experiences to write a story and to think of illustrations to match.

Then in year groups, Simon conducted workshops with the children where he taught them how to draw his character Icky Doo Dah. The children really enjoy learning about different artistic techniques they could use to help bring a character to life.

After Simon's visit, different year groups used their illustrations to create storyboards and pieces of writing based off the characters they created in the workshops.
