Uniform

Uniform

We recently received notification from Marks & Spencer that they will no longer be supplying school uniform to our school. St Augustine’s Catholic School is not the only school that is being affected by this decision. Marks & Spencer are reviewing their school uniform business strategy, hence their decision to cease supplying designated school uniforms. As a result, we have been exploring a selection of suppliers who can meet the school’s bulk demand. During these discussions, the following factors were at the forefront of our mind:

Value for money

This does not mean the cheapest but the best quality at the best price. This has been the most challenging aspect of the discussions.

 Accessibility

  • A supplier that is within reasonable distance that parents/carers can easily reach to try the sizes before purchase.
  • If parents/carers prefer online purchase due to work/life commitments, it is easy to navigate their website and delivery is easy and quick.

 Delivery

  • The ease of delivery to home address and potential of delivery being sent to the school.

 Promotional Discounts

  • Offer of promotional discounts to take into consideration the cost of living.

Instant access to accessories (including ties)

  • There will be a small stock of ties that can be purchased in school when needed.

Due to this notice, the school recommends that you refrain from making any planned purchases in readiness for the new academic year. During our engagement with the different suppliers, the school is exploring the potential of procuring sleeveless jumpers (tank tops).

Once the most suitable main supplier has been identified, we will contact you again and you will then be able to make the purchases for the next school year.

School uniform is compulsory at St Augustine’s School.  We expect, as you have chosen to send your child to our school, that you will ensure that your children adhere to our policy.

On the grounds of health and safety St Augustine's children must obey the following rules

  • No 'part dying' of the hair
  • Children should not wear jewellery to school. Small gold or silver studs are permitted, but must be removed for PE
  • Watches may also be worn, but must be removed for PE
