'An unforgettable performance at the Royal Albert Hall'
On Tuesday 11th March, the school choir made a special trip to the Royal Albert Hall, in central London to take part in the 'Redbridge Create' singing festival. This year was a particularly special occasion;, marking several anniversaries: 60th anniversary of the London Borough of Redbridge and the Redbridge Music Service; the 25th anniversary of the Redbridge Choral Festival at the Royal Albert Hall; and the 50th anniversary of the Kenneth More Theatre.
Accompanied by Mrs. McGarry, Mrs. Lucey, Mrs. Tyson and Mrs. Fagan, the children travelled by the Central and District Lines, then walked from South Kensington to the venue. Seeing the Royal Albert Hall for the first time, many of the children were in awe of the majestic building and beyond excited.
They joined other choirs from 43 primary and 13 secondary schools in the hugely impressive auditorium. They spent the afternoon rehearsing the different songs and dance routines. During the break, the children walked at the way to the Gallery at the highest tier. Looking downwards from this point, the sight was magnificent and their seats looked particularly tiny from that distance. Some of the choir members made banners and posters to show during the performance interval.
The performance finally began at 7:00pm and the children san with so much enthusiasm and joy; showcasing their hardwork and talent. Their exemplary behaviour and performance made all staff extremely proud; they were truly a credit to the school, themselves and their families.
